Palace in Zatoń

The palace was built in 1689 by the then owner of the Zatoń estate, Balthazar von Unruh, in the form of a baroque manor house. Between 1842 and 1843 the palace was rebuilt in classicist style. At that time, the palace was extended by one floor and a new part was added. At the same time the park around the palace started to be transformed. These works were commissioned by Duchess Dorota de Talleyrand-Perigord, who moved here in the 1840s. It was during her stay that the best period in the palace history took place.
Burned down by Soviet troops in 1945, it was not rebuilt.
In 2018, the palace ruins were secured and opened to the public. The revitalization of the park took place within the project "Preservation and use of historical park landscapes in Branitz and Zatoń.”
