Książęcy Palace in Żagań

The Książęcy Palace (Lobkowitzów Palace) dating back to the 17th century was erected on the site of medieval Piast Castle from the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries. The history of this monument is connected with the Duchy of Głogów and Żagań.

The Książęcy Palace in Żagań is one of the most exquisite Baroque monuments of the Lubusz Land. Built by order of Albreht von Wallenstein, commander in chief of the imperial army during the 30-year war, for centuries it was the residence of many princes. The building is surrounded by a large park, which even before the Second World War was considered to be the most beautiful in Silesia and one of the most magnificent in Central Europe.
