"Kostrzyn Pompeii" – Old Town Kostrzyn

Anyone who visits our Old Town once will immediately understand the analogy with Pompeii. The fortress town has been known all over Europe for almost 500 years, but the town as a tourist destination has only been gaining popularity since the establishment of the Kostrzyn Fortress Museum. Its strategic geographical location at the mouth of the Warta River into the Odra River has from the beginning determined synergies in such fields as military, transport, paper industry, and now also tourism and wetland protection. At present the ruins of the Old Town, destroyed in 1945, and the adjacent exhibition of the Kostrzyn Stronghold Museum attract tourists from all over the world. The slogan "No more war!" sounds loudest here.
